Despite it being mostly a visual novel, there are a lot of hidden achievements and content that you could discover and unlock within each episode. As you get further into the game, the characters also start to age, alongside changes to the environment. Each act is representative of a different period of Sal’s life when he reaches Nockfell. Starting with episode one, where you are put into a disturbing dream sequence with Sal and his bandaged face. This group of friends supports and helps Sal with the mysteries that unravel and the spirits that are lurking in Nockfell.ĭue to it being an episodic game, there are five different acts for the story. Todd is the engineer of the group, Ashley is an artist who craves solving mysteries, and Larry is his best friend that lives in the apartment complex with Sal. Some of the other characters that are in Sal’s circle of friends are Todd, Ashley, and Larry. Its main purpose is to tell the story of our main character, Sally Face, or Sal, about his adventures in the Addison apartments and other mysteries around the town. There are not many fighting scenes or action scenes, mostly visual scenes to tell the story. I feel that the game is more of a visual novel with some puzzles to do than an RPG or action game. This means that you move from side to side only. You don’t need to move the camera, as it is a linear camera angle. Later in the game, you will be able to use your video game system to find spirits, which will use the “Y” and “R” buttons for interaction. “X” is for looking at your inventory and what tasks you need to do. You just use the left joystick to move, and you can use “A” to interact with things. The controls of the game are very simple. Sal and his friends unfortunately discover something terrible after a string of mysterious murders that casts over their small town. He uses a handheld video game system to speak with the dead and learn their stories. It follows the unsettling adventure of a boy named Sal with a prosthetic face. Inspired by 1990’s cartoons and personal nightmares, it is a five-part, episodic series that is a psychological, adventure, puzzle game. Sally Face is a Nintendo Switch and PC game developed and published by Portable Moose.
